WICHITAWESOME

You might be asking, what in the world does Wichitawesome mean?? Don't worry...I wondered the same thing!

I've never repped a wichita shirt before or one quite this orange, but I decided I'd give it a chance.

I quickly learned that the theme of the T-shirt had a story behind it. But first, I'll explain why I now own this VERY BRIGHT orange shirt. Koch Industries, the company I work for, has something called the New Hire Network. It was created to help young employees connect and get to know each other. Koch is a large company with a ton of businesses, so since we are spread out across the different businesses it's not easy to meet everyone. We have events about once a month just so we can all hang out. Bowling, happy hours, march madness watch party...you get the picture! This month, since the interns are here for the summer, we had a sports challenge....

........ Flag Football - Sand Volleyball - 3 on 3 Basketball - Bocce Ball - Tug of War

Kayla, myself, and Lynn

As you can tell by our awesome shirts, the new hires were taking this challenge seriously. Unfortunately, we lost...it all came down to the TUG OF WAR. It was really close! (The interns actually creamed us, but we'll just stick with the first story). But hey, the important thing is we looked good doing it. And I'm pretty sure we had more fun than the interns, but I may be a little bias.

Now, back to the theme of our shirt. I'm guessing you probably don't know this, but Wichita is climbing the charts as one of the top cites for college spring breakers. I'm serious people! You don't believe me do you...well maybe you'll believe Jimmy Kimmel.

I hope none of you actually thought I was being serious, but seriously why is it that Kanas always gets made fun of? Anyway, well there you have it, the inspiration to our WICHITAWESOME theme. I will wear it proudly!

For those of you who know me well, you know that writing is not really one of my gifts or my forte. So it might come as a surprise to you that I would start a blog...well, surprise! I've realized the further away you are from family and friends the harder it is to share the little moments in life with them. So I thought I would try to capture some of those moments here.

So here it goes....welcome to my life in the REAL WORLD!
